MASTER'S PROJECT "ÍSLAND – UNDUR OG GILDI", 2008-2010
With inspiration from Icelandic folktales, legends and phenomenas I made a personal interpretation of the superstitious Iceland where my characters play the roles of storytellers and messengers.
By presenting some of Iceland’s old cultural heritage through drawings I wanted to wake the curiosity and wonder in people. The project resulted in pretend-money, a imagined new valuta for a country in crisis, which tells a story of both the financial crisis and the icelandic cultural heritage.
This project was also awarded with a nomination in the biggest annual event for the creative industry in Norway called Visuelt: http://www.visuelt.org/vinnere/2011/illustrasjon/studentarbeid/
